WBGT index (wet bulb globe temperature index): WBGT refers to the wet bulb black bulb temperature, which is a basic parameter for comprehensively evaluating the thermal load of the human body in contact with the working environment, measured in degrees. Used to evaluate the average heat load of the human body. It adopts natural wet bulb temperature (Tnw) and black bulb temperature (Tg), and measures air dry bulb temperature (Ta) in outdoor conditions. The WBGT index is calculated according to the following formula:
No solar radiation indoors or outdoors: WBGT = 0.7 Tnw + 0.3 Tg
Outdoor solar radiation: WBGT = 0.7 Tnw + 0.2 Tg + 0.1 Ta
Heat stress: The degree of heat generated by the human body during work in a hot environment, represented by the WBGT index, depends on the heat production of physical labor and the characteristics of heat exchange between the environment and the human body.
