Maintenance of Large Diameter Liquid Flow Meter
During use, general maintenance work mainly involves inspecting:
1. Check if the working power supply voltage is correct according to the work area;
2. Whether the sensor grounding is reliable or damaged;
3. Whether the medium is filled with the sensor and whether there are bubbles in the medium;
4. Is the reading correct and is the measured value within the measurement range?
5. Is the terminal wiring loose?
6. Has the flow sensor been soaked in water? Is there any small animal crawling into the converter box causing a cable short circuit fault? The inquiry cycle depends on the installation environment conditions.
Principles for selecting large-diameter liquid flow meters
The tested fluid must be a conductive liquid or slurry with a conductivity of not less than 5 μ s/cm. The tested fluid should not contain a large amount of ferromagnetic substances or bubbles. The appropriate pressure rating, lining material, electrode material, and instrument structure should be selected based on the characteristics of the tested fluid.
Selection of Path
1. Due to the high range of 150:1 of LD electromagnetic flowmeter, the instrument diameter is usually chosen to be the same as the process pipeline.
2. If the measured medium contains solid particles, the recommended flow rate range is 1-3 m/s. If the actual flow rate is too high and cannot be changed, the instrument diameter can be chosen to be larger than the process pipeline diameter to appropriately reduce the fluid flow velocity of the flowmeter measurement section and reduce the wear of particles on the electrode and lining.
If there may be sediment in the process pipeline, it is recommended to have a flow rate of 2-5m/s. If the actual flow rate is too low and it is inconvenient to change the process pipeline, the instrument diameter can be chosen to be smaller than the process pipeline diameter to increase the fluid flow rate of the flowmeter appropriately and avoid the influence of sediment on the accuracy of the instrument.
4. In cases where the flow rate is too low and high-precision measurement is required, sensors smaller than the diameter of the process pipeline can be selected to increase the flow rate and ensure high accuracy.
In situations 2, 3, and 4 mentioned above, reducers must be installed upstream and downstream of the flowmeter. The center cone angle of the reducer should not exceed 15 °, and there should be at least 5 times the diameter of the process pipeline in the straight section upstream of the reducer.
