Working principle of disc dryer
The structure of the disc dryer can be divided into contact conduction type, hot air convection type, and convection conduction mixed type according to the heating method. According to the operating pressure, there are three types: atmospheric pressure type, airtight type, and vacuum type. It can be used as both a dryer and a cooler, or both.
The equipment mainly consists of shell and frame, hollow heating plate, main shaft and mixing arm and rake blade, upper and lower bearings, coupling, variable speed drive device, feeder, inlet and outlet of heat carrier and its control instruments, maintenance door and discharge device, etc. When vacuum drying, vacuum, separation or condensation equipment is equipped.
The shell of the disc dryer is a vertical cylindrical or polygonal cylinder. When operating under vacuum or airtightness, considering the force situation of the equipment, it is usually cylindrical. Internally equipped with a frame to securely install multi-layer horizontal annular hollow heating plates. The distance between the upper and lower plates is fixed, and the hollow part of the hollow heating plate can be heated by heat carriers such as steam, hot water, or thermal oil. A partition or support rod is installed in the middle of the heating jacket to increase rigidity and strength. There are inlet and outlet pipes on each heating plate, which can be assembled in series, parallel or series parallel. The temperature of each heating plate can be controlled separately and the temperature distribution inside the equipment can be adjusted.
If required by the process, a coolant can be introduced into the bottom heating plate to reduce product temperature, recover heat, and avoid the phenomenon of material temperature tending to the wall temperature of the heating plate and overheating and deterioration in the later stage of the fixed bed.


Performance characteristics of disc dryer
1. Compared with box dryers, disc dryers have material mechanical conveying, continuous production, and adjustable processing capacity. Avoiding heavy loading and unloading of materials and manual flipping work, with light labor intensity, good working conditions, and convenient management;
2. High drying efficiency, with a total heat transfer coefficient of 240-544 kJ/(m2 · h ·℃) and an average evaporation intensity of about 3-10 kg/(m2 · h);
3. Vertical installation, complete insulation, high utilization rate of heat source and waste heat. Evaporation requires only 1.1-1.4 kg of steam per kilogram of water. In addition, the required power is only about 1/10 of that of the rotary cylinder dryer, which is economically feasible;
4. Small footprint, compact structure, simple equipment installation, and on-site use both indoors and outdoors;
5. The discharge speed of exhaust gas or steam is low, and there is less dust flying, which can meet the requirements of the three waste emission standards and improve the working environment. It is particularly suitable for drying pesticide raw materials without the need for dust removal equipment;
6. The number of heating plates and spindle speed can be adjusted, and the residence time of materials in the dryer can be freely selected according to process requirements;
7. The temperature of each layer of material tray can be controlled to achieve the specified temperature distribution. Drying, cooling, and using can obtain dry products with uniform quality and low mechanical stress;
8. Standardization and generalization of equipment components, assembly according to working conditions, with strong adaptability;
9. If combined appropriately with other devices, solvents and dry paste materials can also be recovered. It can also be used for various product thermal processing processes such as roasting and sublimation.
