The definition of petroleum is: a substance extracted with CCl4 under the conditions specified in the standard GB/T16488-1996, which is not adsorbed by magnesium silicate, and has characteristic absorption at all or part of the spectral bands with wave numbers of 2930cm-1, 2960cm-1, and 3030cm-1. The definition of animal and vegetable oils is: substances extracted with CCl4 under the conditions specified in the standard GB/T16488-1996 and adsorbed by magnesium silicate. According to the recommended methods of the Organization for Standardization (ISO), China has formulated and promulgated the national standard "Determination of Water Quality for Petroleum and Animal and Vegetable Oils by Infrared Spectroscopy" (GB/T 16488-1996) based on infrared photometry. This standard includes two methods, infrared spectrophotometry and non dispersive infrared spectrophotometry, but currently in China, most of them use infrared spectrophotometry.
Infrared oil detectors are not only suitable for monitoring the content of petroleum (mineral oil), animal and vegetable oils, and total oil in various water bodies and soils such as surface water, groundwater, seawater, domestic water, and industrial wastewater, but also for detecting the purity of organic reagents and measuring the total amount and content of organic compounds containing different C-H bonds.

4、 Precautions for using the instrument:
1The instrument should be preheated for 30 minutes before measurement.
2The CCl4 used in the oil analyzer should be of analytical purity or above and purified by activated carbon filtration or distillation. It can only be used after being verified as qualified by the instrument. The verification method can refer to the relevant parts of this manual.
When operating the instrument, experimental gloves should be worn, ventilation facilities should be turned on, and air circulation should be maintained to prevent the volatilization of carbon tetrachloride from causing damage to the human body,.
4The optical components of lighting should be avoided from being touched by human hands and dust contamination should be avoided as much as possible. If the optical mirror is stained with fingerprints or dust, it can be rinsed with * or acetone under the guidance of technicians. For gratings, this cleaning method is not possible and requires professional maintenance.
5The oil testing file is saved in the c: oildatadat directory and needs to be backed up frequently on other drives to the oildata folder.
If any abnormal phenomena are found during the operation, the power supply of the instrument host and microcomputer can be turned off, and then restarted to work.
