Introduction:
The basic requirements for the operation and management of sedimentation tanks are to ensure the safety and integrity of various equipment, timely regulate various operational control parameters, and ensure that the effluent quality meets the specified indicators. Therefore, we should focus on the following aspects of work.
1. Avoid short circuits
The water flow entering the sedimentation tank usually stays in the tank for different periods of time, and some of the water stays for less than the design retention time and flows out quickly.
Liugang cyclone sedimentation tank
Outside the pool: The other part has a residence time greater than the design residence time, and this phenomenon of different residence times is called short flow.
Short flow shortens the residence time of some water, preventing sufficient precipitation and reducing precipitation efficiency; The retention time of the other part of the water may be very long, and there may even be stagnant water areas where the water flow is basically stagnant, reducing the effective volume of the sedimentation tank.
In short, short flow is one of the main reasons affecting the effluent quality of sedimentation tanks. There are many reasons for the formation of short flow phenomenon, such as the high flow velocity entering the sedimentation tank; The unit length flow rate of the outflow weir is too high; The distance between the inlet and outlet areas of the sedimentation tank is too close; The water surface of the sedimentation tank is affected by strong winds; The change in water temperature caused by sunlight exposure in the pool water; The density difference between inflow and pool water; And the columns, guide walls, and mud scraping facilities present in the sedimentation tank can all form a short flow image.
2Add coagulant

2Add coagulant
When the sedimentation tank is used for liquid-solid separation in the coagulation process, the correct addition of coagulant is one of the key factors in the operation and management of the sedimentation tank. To achieve correct addition of coagulants, it is necessary to grasp the changes in inlet water quality and quantity. Taking drinking water purification as an example, it is generally required to measure the turbidity, pH value, water temperature, and alkalinity of the raw water every 2-4 hours. In seasons with frequent water quality, it is required to conduct a measurement every 1-2 hours to understand the on-off status of the inlet pump room and adjust the dosage in a timely manner according to changes in water quality and quantity. Special attention should be paid to preventing medication breakage accidents, as even if medication is stopped for a short period of time, it can lead to deterioration of the effluent quality.
3. Timely discharge of mud
Timely sludge discharge is an extremely important task in the operation and management of sedimentation tanks. The sedimentation tank in sewage treatment contains a large amount of sludge, most of which is organic matter. If the sludge is not discharged in time, anaerobic fermentation will occur, causing the sludge to float up. This not only destroys the normal operation of the sedimentation tank, but also deteriorates the water quality, such as an increase in dissolved BOD value in the effluent; Decreased pH value, etc. The discharge cycle of the initial sedimentation tank should generally not exceed 2 days, and the discharge cycle of the secondary sedimentation tank should generally not exceed 2 hours. When the sludge is not completely discharged, the tank should be stopped (emptied) and manually washed to clean the sludge. The sedimentation tank for mechanical sludge discharge should strengthen the maintenance and management of the sludge discharge equipment. Once the mechanical sludge discharge equipment malfunctions, it should be repaired in a timely manner to avoid excessive sludge accumulation at the bottom of the tank, which affects the quality of the effluent water.
4Preventing algae
4Preventing algae
In the sedimentation tank of water treatment, when the original algae content is high, it can lead to the growth of algae in the tank, especially in areas with high temperatures. This phenomenon may be more prominent when installing inclined pipes in the sedimentation tank. Although algae growth does not seriously affect the operation of sedimentation tanks, it is detrimental to the quality of the effluent. The preventive measure is to add chlorine to the raw water to inhibit the growth of algae. The use of ferric chloride coagulant also has an inhibitory effect on algae.
Slant tube sedimentation tank, also known as inclined tube sedimentation tank or inclined plate sedimentation tank
1、 Principle of inclined tube sedimentation tank:
The inclined tube sedimentation purification method is a method of constructing inclined tubes with an inclination angle of 60 degrees above the suspended layer of sludge. Suspended solids, solids, or flocs formed by adding coagulants in the original water accumulate on the bottom surface of the inclined tubes to form a thin layer of sludge, which slides back to the suspended layer of sludge by gravity and then sinks into the sludge collection hopper. Discharged into the sludge tank through the sludge discharge pipe for further treatment or comprehensive utilization. The supernatant gradually rises to the collection pipe and can be discharged directly or reused.
2、 Application of inclined tube sedimentation tank:
The inclined tube settler can be used as a supporting equipment for water processes such as air flotation and upgrading, as well as for single-stage treatment of various types of wastewater. For example. 1. The removal rate of mixed wastewater containing various metal ions, such as copper, iron, zinc, nickel, etc., in electroplating wastewater is over 90%. Generally, electroplating wastewater can meet the discharge standards after treatment. 2. Coal mine and mineral processing wastewater can reduce turbidity from 500-1500 milligrams per liter to 5 milligrams per liter. 3. The color removal rate of wastewater from printing and dyeing, bleaching and dyeing is 70-90%, and the COD removal rate is 50-70%. 4. The removal of a large amount of organic matter from wastewater in industries such as leather and food, with a COD removal rate of 50-80% and a solid impurity removal rate of over 90%. 5. The COD removal rate of chemical wastewater is 60-70%, the chromaticity removal rate is 60-90%, and the suspended solids meet the discharge standards.
3、 Advantages of inclined tube sedimentation tank:
1. Simple structure, no vulnerable parts, durable, and reduces maintenance.
2. Stable operation and easy operation.
3. Less power and energy-saving.
4. Land saving, low investment, fast deployment, and high efficiency.
