High speed image intensifier HiCATT
HiCATT is an image intensifier specifically designed for high-speed cameras. The high-speed image intensifier HiCATT increases the sensitivity of your camera and enables low light imaging frame rates up to 1MHz( 10MHz@burst )The technology of HiCATT high-speed image intensifier extends the dynamic range of high-speed cameras. In low light, even a single photon can be detected. At high light levels, the high-speed image intensifier HiCATT can prevent overexposure with extremely short exposures (as low as 3 ns). These short exposures produce clear images of fast-moving objects.
High speed image intensifier HiCATT product features:
One million fps high-speed imaging——HiCATT upgrades your high-speed camera to the next level of performance. It increases the intensity of incident light to 1000000 times per second.
3ns ultra short exposure——The gate controlled image intensifier reduces the exposure time to 3ns. In such a short exposure time, motion blur is completely eliminated to ensure clear images.
50% QE High Sensitivity Enhancer——You can choose from a variety of high-sensitivity image enhancers to match the spectral requirements of your application.
Image intensifier
Image intensifier can enhance the intensity of incident light. By converting photons into electrons and then back into photons, the intensity of light can be significantly increased. Another feature of an image intensifier is that it can serve as an ultra fast shutter.
Match your camera
The relay optics of HiCATT and TRiCATT project the output of the image intensifier onto the sensor of the camera. Contact us to determine the optimal image intensifier diameter and relay optics for your camera and application.
Photoelectrode
The photocathode is the entrance of the image intensifier. This is where incident photons are converted into electrons. The quantum efficiency of photocathode materials specifies the efficiency of this conversion for each wavelength.
Fluorescent agent
The output of the image intensifier contains a layer of phosphorescent material. When an electron collides, the fluorescent screen will emit light. According to the type of phosphor, the intensity of emitted light will decrease faster.
High speed image intensifier HiCATT application:
Combustion research
Researchers from various regions are using high-speed image intensifier HiCATT in their combustion studies, including OH * laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and chemiluminescence. To avoid motion blur and see detailed structures, a very short exposure time is required. This reduces the detected light intensity during each exposure process. HiCATT enhances light intensity to ensure clear images are obtained at high frame rates.
The image on the left shows three blue gas flames.
Figure A is a regular record showing the general shape of a blue gas flame. But due to the long exposure time, details were lost.
Image B was recorded using a high-speed camera (1000 frames per second, 1 millisecond exposure time) to reduce motion blur. The image is dull and blurry, but it displays less motion blur than image A.
Figure C shows the appearance of flames at 2000 fps under a 15 microsecond exposure. The high-speed image intensifier HiCATT eliminates motion blur while enhancing the intensity of incident light, preserving more image details.
